Moab 'Zu Zoo History
Moab 'Zu Zoo was the first organized Isuzu event back in 1998 with 15 rigs. In 1999, with ITOG helping publicize the event, we had more than 30 rigs. In 2000, ITOG and Planet Isuzoo both helped get out the good word, and we had about 50 rigs participate in Moab 'Zu Zoo III. Those numbers prompted the BLM to decide our event was an 'outfitter'-planned event and to place all the fees, permits, and requirements on us for 2001's Moab 'Zu Zoo IV. No longer just a "group of friends", we needed an organizing body to keep track of all those fees, permits, and requirements. So, 'Zu Zoo, Inc. was born. That year's Moab 'Zu Zoo grew to about 75 vehicles. We continued growing, having nearly 100 vehicles in both 2002 and 2003. This year, we look forward to seeing seasoned participants as well as new folks at Moab 'Zu Zoo IX.
Moab 'Zu Zoo IX
This year's event will be held Wednesday, May 17 - Saturday May 20, 2006. Participant check-ins begin Tuesday afternoon at Portal Campground, our base of operations. Trails begin staging each morning at 7:00AM, so it is recommended that participants plan to check-in the night before their first scheduled run. More information, event schedule, and trail selection will be posted as available. Check back in the coming months.
